BA Architecture

Course Overview

This creative degree is officially recognised by the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) and the Architects Registration Board (ARB), giving students a strong base in architectural knowledge. Students are taught how to draw and build models, while learning to solve problems that have a genuine social purpose. The course covers the principles of design, the history and theory of architecture, building structures, construction, and sustainable design. It provides the essential skills needed for a professional career, and graduating from this programme means completing the first step toward becoming a certified architect.

The curriculum puts more emphasis on practical work in studios and workshops, with design projects making up over half of the graded assignments. Students learn about the design process through analysis, drawing, and creating models, using both traditional and digital methods. The knowledge and skills for design are delivered through studio teaching, lectures, seminars, and hands-on workshops. Additionally, students have the opportunity to engage with London-based organisations and work on local issues.

Learning is practice-oriented, with continuous feedback from tutors. This approach helps students grow their creativity, technical expertise, and problem-solving ability while preparing a portfolio that is essential for future architectural practice.
