BEng Mechatronics and Autonomous Systems with Foundation Year

The BEng Mechatronics and Autonomous Systems with Foundation Year is a four-year programme that starts with a foundation year that helps prepare students for the full degree. This foundation year develops academic skills and an understanding of basic engineering principles, including mathematics and computation. It is for students who do not meet the direct entry requirements for the main degree.

After the foundation year, students will start the main BEng Mechatronics and Autonomous Systems degree. The programme's content combines mechanical, electronic, and software engineering to create intelligent machines and robots. Assessment is done through examinations, coursework reports and portfolio work.

The core modules for the foundation year include Foundation Mathematics for Engineering and Technology 1 & 2, Algorithm and Computing, Introductory & Additional Foundation Physics, Programming for Engineers and Engineering and Technology Practice.

Grade Requirements:

• Candidates need 64 UCAS tariff points or higher, including  A-levels and BTECs.
• International qualifications equivalent to A-levels are also accepted.

English Proficiency:

• Candidates can submit an overall score of 6.0 in the IELTS Academic test, with no component score below 5.5.
• PTE and TOEFL are also accepted.

The tuition fee for international students studying the BEng Mechatronics and Autonomous Systems with Foundation Year programme at Liverpool John Moores University is  £18,250  for the 2025/26 academic year.
