BA Early Childhood Studies with Foundation Year
Course overview
Leeds Trinity University offers a four-year undergraduate course in Early Childhood Studies, which includes a Foundation Year. This programme focuses on the important role that adults play in influencing children's development, learning, and overall well-being. This degree has an initial full-time Foundation Year and offers an alternative route into university for students to obtain a degree. The Foundation Year in Education and Childhood helps students build academic skills as they prepare for their main degree programme.
Students will undertake a project to study a topic related to their specialisation. This course observes the factors that shape children’s personalities and behaviour, utilising knowledge about the patterns of child development. They will also examine the problems children may face, from domestic abuse to disability. This course involves lectures, professional visits, conferences, and seminars to reinforce classroom theories. Assessment is done through periodic tests, examinations, and project work.
