Course overview

The MArch Architecture (ARB/RIBA Part 2) at Kingston University is designed to equip students for a professional career by combining design innovation, sustainability, and ethical practice. The Architects Registration Board (ARB) and Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) require the completion of parts 1, 2, and 3 to become a fully qualified architect. Kingston University's Architecture MArch qualification meets both ARB and RIBA criteria Part 2 and is prescribed by the ARB. Students will engage in live design projects and explore modern themes such as climate literacy, ethical practice, and health and safety.

Entry requirements

Grade Requirements:

  • Applicants are expected to have completed ARB/RIBA Part 1 or have an exemption. However, the university will consider applications from those who have completed non-UK or non-validated architecture degrees without Part 1. Before qualifying as a UK architect, students must have completed Part 1, as well as Parts 2 and 3.
  • Preference will be given to applicants with a 2:2 or above honours degree and evidence of a range of experience in either architectural practice or an allied design/construction environment.

English Proficiency:

  • If English is not your first language, you will need an overall IELTS score of 6.5, with at least 6.0 in each part.
  • Other alternative requirements include tests such as TOEFL and PTE.
