MEng Structural Engineering

The course name, MEng Structural Engineering, embodies what this programme is about. Rather than the 4-year BEng in Structural Engineering, this version is 5 years long.

Designed to teach the advanced knowledge of structural engineering, this course applies a practice-oriented teaching method. You will learn through traditional lectures, tutorials, seminars, practical lab sessions, guest speakers, and live project briefs—covering key areas such as materials, structures, geotechnics, water engineering, and transportation engineering.

By the end of this programme, you will have covered technical topics like analysis and design of steel and concrete elements, finite element methods, foundation engineering, geotechnics, hydraulics, structural dynamics, and earthquake engineering.

You will have developed skills in structural analysis, design project management, and professional engineering practice. This, coupled with the opportunity to conduct a substantial engineering design project and optional global exchanges, will provide you with a well-rounded engineering education

Grade Requirements

• You should have BBC–ABB in A-Levels, which must include Mathematics. Equivalent qualifications such as BTEC, Scottish Highers, HNDs, and the International Baccalaureate are also accepted.

English Proficiency 

• Non-native English speakers may need to demonstrate proficiency in the language, typically through an IELTS score of at least 6.0. TOEFL or other equivalents are also allowed.
