Course overview
The BSc Oral Health Science at Glasgow Caledonian University is designed to teach you the clinical skills of dental care alongside the principles of patient communication and public health. This course combines practical training with academic knowledge to produce confident, competent dental care professionals.
During this programme, you will gain a deep understanding of oral health promotion, disease prevention, and clinical dental hygiene and therapy. You will also learn about patient assessment, radiography, restorative care, and ethical, legal, and professional responsibilities in dental practice.
In addition to traditional teaching methods, this course emphasises practical learning through simulated clinical environments and placements within NHS dental settings. Essentially, you will graduate ready to register with the General Dental Council and work as a dental hygienist-therapist in a variety of clinical or community roles.

Grade requirements:
- As an applicant, you need A levels at BBC, including Biology or equivalent qualifications. You may tender an International Baccalaureate diploma with 28 points, including Higher Level Biology. The university also accepts DMM in BTEC.
English Proficiency:
- International students also need to demonstrate English language proficiency, with a combined 7.0 in the IELTS with no element below 6.5 (or equivalent).
