BSc AI and Data Science
Course overview
This degree in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Data Science teaches students how to use computers to solve problems using data. Students will learn to work with software, analyse data, and create AI systems. The course starts with basic computing and programming, then moves on to specific topics like databases, machine learning, and big data.
Students will learn from high-quality, research-led teaching and get hands-on experience. Their work will be assessed through exams, coursework, lab tasks, presentations, and projects. They can also choose to work in industry for a year or study abroad. This course is professionally recognised by the British Computer Society (BCS).
Entry requirements
Applicants need to send a personal statement explaining why they want to study the course and other relevant information about their education. A reference letter from a teacher or an employer is also needed. Prospective candidates can choose to send their CV with their application to show their work experience.
Grade Requirements:
- Applicants need a UCAS Tariff score of 96. This score can come from specific grades in exams like Scottish Highers (BBCC, with Maths or Computing) or A-levels CCC, with Maths or Computing.
- The university might also let you join in later years of the course if you have HNC or HND qualifications.
English Proficiency:
- If English is not your first language, you will need an overall IELTS score of 6.0, with no section like reading or speaking below 5.5.
- Other approved English tests are also accepted.

Early Payment Discount
This award entitles fee-paying students to a discount of 5% if fees are over £5,000 and the fees are paid in full prior to the first teaching date of the course.
