BSc Biomedical Science

Course Overview

BSc Biomedical Science at Edge Hill University is a three-year, full-time program covering the scientific principles of health and disease. It is a professionally accredited course that gives students a comprehensive understanding of human biology, biochemistry, genetics, and how these relate to disease progression and the development of new treatments. Students will develop essential laboratory and research skills throughout their studies.

The structure of the course will enable it to offer a foundation in the first year and offer specialisation later in the course. Mandatory modules are incorporated in the program covering topics such as cell biology and genetics, and there are electives in anatomy and physiology. Assessment is a combination of coursework, practical work, and examinations. Students also undertake an independent research project in their final year.

Entry Requirements for Bangladeshi Students

You need to submit a personal statement discussing your reasons for applying for the course and other relevant information regarding your studies. A relevant academic and/or employer reference is also needed. You also have the option to upload your CV along with your applications to demonstrate your work experience.

Grade Requirements:

  • Applicants typically need 112–120 UCAS Tariff points, including BBC-BBB at A-Level or a Distinction, Merit, Merit (DMM) for a BTEC Extended Diploma, a T-Level (Merit), an International Baccalaureate (IB) or an Access to Higher Education Diploma. 
  • International students can submit A-level equivalents.

English Proficiency: 

  • Applicants whose first language is not English need an overall IELTS score of 6.0 and a minimum of 5.5 in all sections. Other equivalent test scores, like PTE, are also accepted.

Cost of Study

The tuition fee for full-time international undergraduate students taking the BSc Biomedical Science at Edge Hill University is £17,000 per year.

Scholarships

Edge Hill University has a range of scholarships to recognise academic and personal achievements. Many of these are awarded automatically to eligible students. International students are automatically considered for the Undergraduate Development Scholarship, which can be worth up to £3,000 towards the first year's tuition fees. There are also external scholarships and the Student Opportunity Fund to help with living expenses.
