BA Architecture

Course Overview

The BA Architecture course at De Montfort University (DMU) is a professional degree that equips students with the skills to create original buildings and respond to global challenges such as the climate emergency. Learning is done in the design studio, where students complete projects in different settings, such as small residences to complex cities. 

The programme focuses on model-making techniques, both manual and digital, and the art of crafting and creating software. It teaches the history of architecture and design students are assessed through presentations, essays, and reports.

Entry Requirements for Bangladeshi Students

Candidates are to submit a statement in which they discuss their reasons for applying for the course and other important information regarding their studies, an academic and/or employer reference and  CVs along with their applications.

Grade Requirements:

  • Applicants normally have a minimum of 120 UCAS points from qualifications such as A-Levels (BBB) or a Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma (DDM). 
  • An International Baccalaureate Diploma with 28 to 32 points is also acceptable. 
  • The university may also consider a portfolio and interview.

English Proficiency:

  • Applicants need to score at least 6.0 overall in the IELTS (Academic) test, with a minimum of 5.5 in each section. 
  • Other English language test scores, such as PTE with a 52 score and TOEFL IBT with an 80 score.

Cost of Study

The annual tuition fee for the BA Architecture course at De Montfort University for the 2025/26 academic year is £16,250 per year.

Scholarships

De Montfort University provides several scholarships and discounts to support undergraduate students, including, Global Access Scholarship, which offers a £2,000 fee reduction annually. The Stephen Lawrence Professional Scholarship is available to students on the Architecture BA (Hons) course from disadvantaged backgrounds, providing a 50% tuition fee reduction and a £3,500 bursary. International students can receive a £500 discount for paying tuition fees on time. De Montfort University offers a High Achievers Scholarship for international undergraduate students, recognising outstanding academic performance. It provides a tuition fee reduction, with awards from £3,000 for students with 70% or above, to £5,000 for those with 75% or above, and a full fee reduction for students achieving 80% or above. This merit-based award applies to the first year of a full-time undergraduate course, and a panel reviews applications to select successful recipients.
