MA Global Journalism and Public Relations

Course Overview

The MA Global Journalism and Public Relations is a course designed for those passionate about journalism and public relations, as well as professionals seeking to enhance their skills in both areas. The curriculum, developed in partnership with leading media companies, offers a combination of practical skills in both fields. Students have the opportunity to work with various media formats, including digital, video, and audio, and have access to industry-standard studios and equipment.

The course uses projects based on real-world events as a way to teach. Students usually have 8 to 12 hours of classes each week. The remaining time is for guided and independent study, which involves research and completing assignments. The course is assessed in a variety of ways, such as presentations, group projects, portfolios, and written assignments.

Entry Requirements for Bangladeshi Students

Candidates must submit an application that includes copies of their degree certificates and transcripts, a copy of their passport, and at least one current reference. A personal statement in which they discuss their reasons for applying for the course. Students who have relevant work experience can submit a detailed CV with their application, which may be considered in place of a formal degree.

Grade Requirements:

  • An honours degree 2:2 or above (or international equivalent) in a relevant discipline.
  • If the applicants don't have formal qualifications but do have professional journalistic experience at an appropriate level, they may be admitted based on an interview and their submission of supporting material that evidences their experience and achievements.

English Proficiency:

  • Applicants from non-English speaking backgrounds require an IELTS score of 6.5 overall, with no component score lower than 5.5.
  • Equivalent English language test scores are also accepted.

Cost of Study

For tuition fees, international students pay £18,600.

Scholarships

Coventry University offers several scholarships and discounts for postgraduate students. These include the Vice-Chancellor Postgraduate Scholarship, which gives international students a £2,500 scholarship for specific start dates. All graduates of Coventry University can get a 25% discount on their course fees with the Alumni Discount. The university also has an EU Support Bursary that makes tuition fees for eligible EU students the same as for students from the UK. In addition, there are a limited number of Sports Scholarships for students who are highly skilled in sports.
