The MSc Advanced Computer Science at Birmingham City University is a one-year course, available as full-time or part-time. Entry Requirements

  • Candidates who have work experience in a computing field will be considered, even if their degrees are in different areas.

Grade Requirements:

  • Applicants should have at least a 2:2 honours degree or an equivalent qualification in a computing-related subject.

English Proficiency:

  • Non-native English speakers need to have an overall IELTS score of 6.0. Additionally, they must score at least 5.5 in each section of the test or present a similar qualification.

Cost of Study

For the 2025/26 academic year, the tuition fee for international students applying for the Birmingham City University MSc Advanced Computer Science programme is £18,600 per year. If students choose the full-time, 18-month option that includes a professional placement, the total fee will be £20,460. It is important to remember that fees might increase by up to 5% each year.

Scholarships

At Birmingham City University (BCU), international students can benefit from several scholarships. The Women in STEAM Scholarship offers £2,500 for women studying science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics. Additionally, there's an International Scholarship that reduces tuition by up to £2,000 for international undergraduate students, but it's not available for exchange programmes, short courses, or conservatoire courses. 

Lastly, the Graduate Scholarship gives a 20% discount on fees for BCU graduates pursuing a Master’s or PhD.
