BA Honours Business Management 1 year top-up

Course Overview

The BA (Honours) Business Management (1 year top-up) programme is created for students who already hold a foundation degree, HND, or similar qualifications in business or management. The aim is to help students think critically and understand business on a global scale, improving their teamwork and management skills. This course prepares graduates to work effectively in many different business environments.

In this course, students learn through lectures, interactive group sessions, practical workshops, problem-solving tasks, business simulations, discussions of real company situations, group talks, class debates, and presentations and are assessed based on real business scenarios, including written reports, essays, presentations, tasks where they look at their own learning, and tests given during class.

Entry Requirements

Candidates are required to submit a personal statement where they discuss their reasons for applying for the course and other relevant information regarding their studies. A relevant academic and/or employer reference is also needed. Applicants have the option to include their CV along with their applications to show their work experience.

Grade Requirements: 

  • Applicants generally need a foundation degree, HND, or a similar qualification in business or management. 
  • This should include an overall merit from the second year modules, or 120 credits from year one and 120 credits from year two, with an overall mark of 55 per cent or higher, from a suitable business degree or equivalent.

English Proficiency:

  • If English is not the applicant's first language, an IELTS score of 6.0 or higher is required, with a minimum score of 5.5 in each skill. 
  • Equivalent English test scores, such as TOEFL and PTE, are also accepted.

Cost of Study

For the 2025/26 school year, the yearly fee for the BA (Honours) Business Management (1-year top-up) course at Sheffield Hallam University is £17,155.

Scholarships

Sheffield Hallam University provides various scholarships and financial aid for students at all study levels. This includes support for those starting their first degree, those pursuing a higher degree, and students coming from other countries. Money is available for specific groups, such as young people who have left local authority care, individuals studying nursing or related health professions, and talented student athletes. 

The university also provides funds to help fine art students attend arts events and reduces fees for international students who have achieved high grades. More financial help is offered to undergraduate students doing a work placement year and new international students joining the university.
