BSc Dental Technology

Course Overview

The BSc Dental Technology degree is accredited by the General Dental Council (GDC), and it trains students to create accurate dental restorations, prostheses, and appliances. The programme teaches students to build the correct skills using both traditional (analogue) methods and modern digital techniques, including CAD/CAM in Dentistry.

A large part of the course is taught and assessed in partnership with the University of Wales Dental Hospital Trust. Students will learn through lectures, seminars, experiments in special labs, team assignments, and the great use of the virtual learning environment.

Assessment includes written tests, practical assignments, written projects, oral presentations, and video logs. In the third year of this programme, students will carry out a work placement in the University of Wales Dental Hospital Trust.

Entry Requirements for Bangladeshi Students

Candidates are required to submit a personal statement, and relevant information regarding their studies, an academic and/or employer reference, and their CVs to show their work experience.

Grade Requirements:

  • Candidates need 96 UCAS points including A-levels, BTEC, International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma or equivalent.
  • Other International qualifications equivalent to A-levels are also accepted.
  • A GCSE at grade 4 or C or above in English and Mathematics is accepted.

English Proficiency:

  • Candidates should submit an overall score of 6.5 in the IELTS test, with a minimum of 6.0 in each section.
  • PTE Academic and TOEFL IBT are also accepted.

Cost of Study

The international students’ tuition fee for the BSc Dental Technology programme at Cardiff Metropolitan University is 16,000. Note that this is subject to change annually.

Scholarships

Cardiff Metropolitan University offers a range of scholarships for undergraduate students. All international applicants are considered for the Undergraduate Scholarship, which provides an award of £2,500. Also, a Full Fee Discount of up to £1,000 may be available for full-time undergraduate students who pay their fees in full by the set deposit deadline. The university also offers a Sanctuary Award for students looking for sanctuary in the UK.
