BSc Biomedical Science

Course Overview

The BSc Biomedical Science with Foundation Year programme begins with a preparatory year designed to strengthen students’ academic skills, knowledge, and confidence before progressing into the main degree. The BSc Biomedical Science degree is accredited by the Institute of Biomedical Science (IBMS) and the Royal Society of Biology.

The programme teaches students how to apply scientific methods to investigate human diseases and disorders, such as diabetes and cancer. The first year of the course is shared with the BSc Biomedical Science with Health, Exercise & Nutrition programme, allowing students flexibility to switch courses from year two if they wish.

Graduates of this course are employed in various sectors, including pathology and research laboratories, the food industry, and the pharmaceutical sector. Many students also go on to study postgraduate degrees in medicine or dentistry. Entry Requirements for Bangladeshi Students

Applicants must submit a personal statement, relevant academic information, an academic and/or employer reference, and a CV outlining any related work experience.

Grade Requirements:

  • Applicants need 56 UCAS points, achieved through A-levels, BTEC, International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma, or equivalent qualifications.
  • International equivalents to A-levels are also accepted. Additionally, a GCSE grade 4 (C) or above in English and Mathematics is required.

English Proficiency:

  • Applicants must achieve an overall IELTS score of 6.0, with a minimum of 5.5 in each component.
  • Equivalent qualifications such as PTE Academic and TOEFL iBT are also accepted.

Cost of Study

The tuition fee for international students enrolled in the BSc Biomedical Science with Foundation Year programme at Cardiff Metropolitan University is £16,000 per year. Fees are subject to annual review and change.

Scholarships

Cardiff Metropolitan University offers several scholarships for undergraduate students. All international applicants are automatically considered for the Undergraduate Scholarship, which awards £2,500.
