Overview

The Buckinghamshire New University BSc Children's Nursing with Foundation is a comprehensive programme designed to prepare students for a career in caring for children from birth to adulthood and supporting their families. The course combines academic study with practical learning, supported by strong collaboration between the University, service users, and NHS practice partners. Upon successful completion of the programme, graduates are eligible to apply for NMC registration as qualified nurses.

Students dedicate approximately half their time to clinical practice within NHS Trusts and independent care providers, with the remaining half spent in university-based learning. This ensures a balanced approach to education.

In this course, students learn through seminars, lectures, simulations, and virtual learning environments and are assessed through reflective assignments, presentations, exams, literature reviews, and oral examinations, alongside a mandatory Practice Assessment Document completed each year.

Entry Requirements

Applicants are required to submit a personal statement outlining their reasons for applying to the course and provide other relevant information about their academic background. An appropriate academic and/or employer reference is also a necessary component of the application. English Proficiency:

  • If your primary language is not English, you need an overall score of 6.5 in IELTS, with no component score below 6.0.
