BSc Adult Nursing

The BSc Adult Nursing at Buckinghamshire New University is designed to develop compassionate, proficient, confident, and digitally capable nurses. The course equips individuals who want to care for adults in different settings, such as hospitals, community and primary care. Graduates may apply for registration with the Nursing & Midwifery Council (NMC).

Learning areas include assessing and reviewing mental, physical, cognitive, behavioural, spiritual, and social needs to identify priorities for evidence-based nursing interventions. The students learn about safe medicine administration, health, illness, disability, and diversity, and also acquire leadership and critical thinking skills for effective care management.

The teaching methods include lectures, seminars, authentic scenarios, case studies, online learning, while assessment methods include reflective assignments, examinations, presentations, academic posters, literature reviews, oral exams and completion of a Practice Assessment Document. Practice placements across NHS trusts and simulated ward environments with NHS-level manikins and supplies are among the practical components.

Applicants must submit a personal statement explaining their interest in midwifery, supported by an academic or professional background. A reference from an academic or employer is required, and students may upload a CV to show their work experience.

Grade Requirements:

• Applicants typically require 112 - 136 UCAS tariff points, which can be obtained through qualifications such as A levels, T levels, BTEC or an Access to Higher Education course in a relevant subject.

English Proficiency:

• Applicants who do not speak English as their first language need an overall IELTS score of 7.0 with a minimum of 6.5 in each component.
• Alternatively, equivalent English proficiency qualifications like PTE and TOEFL are also considered.

The tuition fee for the BSc Adult Nursing programme is £15,150 per year for international students in the 2025/26 academic year. Tuition fees are reviewed annually and may change.

Buckinghamshire New University offers scholarships to international students to support them financially. The Vice Chancellor's International Student Scholarship, which provides £1,500 for the first year of undergraduate study to eligible self-funded international students and the  International Early Payment Discount are some of the scholarships awarded by the university. The NHS Training grant of £5,000 per academic year is also available to students who meet the eligibility requirements.
