PhD Resource Efficient Future Cities

Course Overview

Brunel University London has a fantastic PhD course called 'Resource-Efficient Future Cities'. This course helps students learn a lot about making cities better for the environment. It looks at two main areas: how to use less energy in buildings and city areas, and how to build with materials and methods that are excellent for the environment. The university knows a lot about things like natural air flow, cool building systems that use less energy, mixing in renewable power, understanding how much energy city buildings need, and using natural, reusable, and smart building materials.

English Proficiency:

  • Non-English speakers need to prove their English language ability through an approved test. Such as a score of 6.5 overall in IELTS (with a minimum of 6.0 in each section) or submission of equivalent test scores from an approved SELT (Secure English Language Test) provider like Pearson or BrunELT is accepted.
  • Pre-sessional English courses are available for those who need to improve their language skills.

Cost of Study

For the academic year 2025/26, the annual tuition fees for the Resource-Efficient Future Cities PhD are as follows: International Full-time Students: £24,795, International Part-time Students: £12,395.

Scholarships

Brunel University London has different ways to help PhD students pay for their studies. For students from the UK and eligible EU countries, there are Doctoral Student Loans that can give students up to £25,000. Students might also find money from different Research Councils, governments or employers in other countries.
