Course Overview

Brunel University London’s BSc Computer Science (Artificial Intelligence) teaches students the basics of information technology and artificial Intelligence. Students will learn computer science with specialised modules in artificial intelligence, including machine learning, neural networks, and language processing. In their first year, students can also build a strong computing foundation before focusing more on AI topics later.

The course is practical and future-focused. Students will work on team-based projects and individual final-year projects to showcase their skills. There’s also the option to take a paid placement year, giving them industry experience and boosting employability.

Teaching is through lectures, lab sessions, and tutorials. They will also engage in group work and self-study. Assessment is through examinations and coursework, with a 60:40 ratio. Final-year projects also impact the overall grades.

Grade Requirements

  • Applicants are usually expected to have A-level grades between AAB and BBB. For those with a BTEC Extended Diploma, the qualification should be in IT, Computing, or Engineering. 
  • An International Baccalaureate of 30 points is accepted. Applicants can also qualify for this course if they have at least 120 UCAS points in Computing or Engineering subjects. This would include 45 credits at Level 3 and an overall Merit in Digital Business Services or Digital Support. 

English Proficiency

  • International students need an IELTS overall score of 6.5 (with a minimum of 5.5 in each component). Other accepted tests include Pearson (score of 59), BrunELT of 63% (minimum of 55%), and a TOEFL score of 90 (Reading 18, Listening 17, Speaking 20, Writing 17).

Cost of Study

The tuition fee for the BSc Computer Science (Artificial Intelligence) at Brunel University London for the 2025/26 academic year is £20,400 for full-time, with the same £1,385 fee for the placement year.
