MEng Computer Systems Engineering

Bangor University

Course overview

The MEng Computer Systems Engineering at Bangor University offers a steady path for learners who want clear skills in both hardware and software design. As the programme moves forward, students gain a stronger sense of how devices, boards, networks, and programmes interact to form complete working systems. By the final year, students will be required to work on a major project that mirrors the kind of tasks faced by new engineers in many firms, giving a strong base for later work or advanced study.

This course is accredited by the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET). This Computer Systems Engineering degree combines the study of electronic engineering and computer science, covering both hardware and software engineering. During the first year, students will cover topics in maths, logic, circuit theory, and basic code skills that set the ground for later modules. These areas form the core of sound engineering work and help each learner handle more complex tasks in later years. Students are taught using a mix of classes, hands-on labs, workshops, and guided tasks that bring theory into real practice. Assessment takes many forms and checks a wide span of skills needed for engineering work. There are timed tests, coursework assignments, lab tasks, design reports, group work, and the final year project.
