LLM Law and Criminology
Course overview
The LLM Law and Criminology at Bangor University is a one-year full-time master’s programme that combines in-depth legal study with criminological theory, policing, criminal justice, and conflict. The course gives students the chance to explore both national and international legal contexts and different criminal justice systems. It aims to build specialist skills in legal and criminological research, offering students a global perspective on crime, justice, and law, through comparative and cross-national approaches.
The modules taught include a combination of law and criminology options. These modules include Public International Law, International Climate Change Law and Policy, Cultural Heritage in International Law, Comparative International Criminal Justice, and Transnational Crime. This programme concludes in a law-focused dissertation, using Postgraduate-level legal research methods. Teaching is mostly seminar-based, encouraging group and individual discussion and in-depth analysis. Learning relies heavily on legal databases.
