7 steps how to become an architect in the UK from Bangladesh

In order to become an architect in the UK, you need to be on the ARB (Architects Registration Board) register and to get on the register, you’ll have to pass three exams - Part 1, Part 2 and Part 3. It takes about 7 years to become a certified architect in the UK.

1. Bachelor’s Degree (3 years)

You'll need to take a three-year degree in architecture, like BArch, that is prescribed by the ARB, which essentially covers Part 1 of the architectural qualification.

2. Practical experience (1 year)

You have to complete a minimum of 12 months of practical experience under the direct supervision of a professional working in the construction industry.

3. Master’s Degree (2 years)

You have to complete a further two years of full-time study, typically a Master of Architecture (M.Arch), to cover Part 2. The programme has to be validated by RIBA/ARB.

4. Supervised Practical Experience (1 year)

It’s another 12 months of practical experience under the direct supervision of an architect.

(A note: You have to complete a minimum of 24 months of practical experience under the direct supervision of a professional working in the construction industry, which should include at least 12 months working in a relevant European territory under the direct supervision of an architect.

5. Work Experience in the UK

6. Examination
