LLB Law with International Relations with foundation year and placement

Course Overview

The LLB Law with International Relations with Foundation Year and Placement from the University of Surrey will allow students to gain valuable insights into the global political, social, and cultural aspects of how the legal system functions. They will learn how law is made and administered, gain an understanding of the English legal system, and study key aspects of civil and criminal law as an international concept.

Students will be taught by experts from Surrey Law School and Politics and International Relations. The key principles of international relations are introduced into the programme from the beginning, with opportunities to choose from a range of optional modules on modern global issues and public affairs.

The Foundation Year is designed for students who do not meet our entry requirements. It provides an additional year of study to develop their skills and make it easier for them to get started at university.  On successful completion of their foundation year, they will be ready to progress to the first year of their degree.

Entry Requirements for Indian Students

Candidates are required to submit a personal statement discussing their reasons for applying to the course and provide other relevant information about their education. An academic and/or employer reference is also required. Students have the option to upload their CVs along with their applications to demonstrate their work experience.

Grade Requirements:

  • Applicants are also expected to have qualifications equivalent to A-levels at CCC.
  • Other qualifications include International Baccalaureate and GCSE or equivalent.

English Proficiency:

  • Applicants from non-English speaking backgrounds need an IELTS score of 6.5 overall, with a minimum of 6.0 in writing and 5.5 in each other component, or provide an equivalent recognised English language test score like TOEFL or PTE.

Cost of Study

For international students, the tuition fee for the LLB Law with International Relations with Foundation Year and Placement in the University of Surrey is £22,900 with an additional £1,900 for the placement year.

Scholarships

The University of Surrey provides various scholarships and bursaries to help eligible postgraduate students. These include a £2,000 early payment discount for international students who fund their studies. Some international students starting a master's degree in February 2026 and September 2026 might qualify for the International Excellence Award, which offers a £5,000 fee reduction.
