BEng Astronautics and Space Engineering

Course Overview

This is a five-year Master's degree (MEng) that includes a mandatory one-year job placement in an industry setting. The course takes students' Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) studies and adds a higher-level year for advanced topics. These topics include aerodynamics, design, engine technology, advanced materials, and space systems. The main goal is to prepare top-quality engineers for the aerospace industry.

The MEng course has been officially approved by both the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) and the Royal Aeronautical Society (RAeS). This means the degree completely satisfies the school requirements needed to become a Chartered Engineer. Students gain professional skills using specialist equipment like modern wind tunnels and are taught by research staff through lessons, lab work, and group projects.
