LLM Advanced Legal Practice SQE 1 and SQE 2

Course Overview

The LLM Advanced Legal Practice (SQE 1 and SQE 2) at the University of Sunderland is a Master’s degree designed for individuals who aspire to qualify as solicitors. This course is carefully structured to enhance your knowledge in the core legal subjects covered in the SQE 1 exam and to help you develop the practical skills required for the SQE 2 assessment.

The programme covers key areas such as Client Interviewing, Property Law, Wills, Criminal Cases, and Business Law. To complete the degree, you will undertake an independent research project known as the Legal Practice Project.

Students attend two-hour workshops each week that focus on different SQE topics. These interactive sessions are designed to strengthen your practical, analytical, and communication skills, both written and oral. The course emphasises independent study, and assessments include practical work, portfolios, and a major research assignment as part of your Legal Practice Project.

This degree provides the academic foundation and applied experience necessary to prepare you for a successful career as a practising solicitor in the UK or abroad.
