BSc Cardiac Physiology BSc

Course Overview

The BSc (Hons) Cardiac Physiology at the University of Sunderland is a three-year, full-time undergraduate degree designed in line with the National School of Healthcare Science curriculum. The course trains students to become professional cardiac physiology practitioners by building a solid foundation in professional practice, physiology, and cardiovascular science, before progressing into specialised areas like the pathophysiology of cardiac disease and advanced methods of clinical testing.

This degree follows a hybrid learning model, with a large portion of study delivered through distance learning, combined with integrated clinical placements in NHS diagnostic cardiology departments. Students are required to complete at least 50 weeks of clinical placement across the three years. Upon successful completion, graduates are eligible to register as Healthcare Science Practitioners with the Academy for Healthcare Science.
