LLB Law

Course overview

The LLB (Hons) Law degree at the University of Sunderland is a great way to start a career in law. This course teaches you everything you need to know for legal jobs. Studying LLB Law from the University of Sunderland will give you the deep knowledge and practical skills needed for a successful job in law today.

A main goal of the course is to prepare you for the Solicitors Qualifying Examination (SQE), which is the test you take to become a solicitor. You will practice the same types of questions used in the SQE. The course also gives you the legal knowledge needed if you want to become a barrister (a different type of lawyer). Plus, it helps you build the study skills necessary for a Master’s degree if you want to keep studying.

You will learn from teachers who are both experienced lawyers and researchers. This means they give you excellent support and use interesting ways to teach you. For real work experience, you have good opportunities: you can work in the university’s Law Clinic or do a separate placement module to see what legal practice is like. You can also join fun extra activities that look good on your CV, such as taking part in student negotiation and mooting (mock trial) competitions.
