MSc Electronic Electrical Engineering

University of Strathclyde

Course overview

This MSc Electronic and Electrical Engineering at the University of Strathclyde gives students broad and deep knowledge across electronic and electrical engineering. Students study core engineering ideas, and can pick optional modules in areas such as embedded electronics, power systems, smart technologies, or control systems. There are projects, labs, and professional skills development. The course is full-time for 12 months. It is accredited by the Institution of Engineering and Technology. Students take taught modules over two semesters, then complete an MSc Project between May and August, which ends in a Presentation Day.

Optional modules allow specialisation according to students’ interests, for example, in robotics, intelligent automation, power systems, or communications. There is also industry engagement, with opportunities for internships, guest lectures, and real-world project work. Students are taught through lectures, seminars, workshops, and lab work. They also do group projects and individual work. The project phase lets students pick a topic, carry out research, build prototypes or models, test, evaluate, and present findings. Assessment is based on coursework, project reports, presentations, labs, and the final project. Feedback is given regularly to support growth.
