MPharm Pharmacy

Course Overview

The University of Strathclyde’s MPharm Pharmacy is a five-year integrated undergraduate and master’s degree offered through the Strathclyde Institute of Pharmacy & Biomedical Sciences. Upon successful completion, students receive the Master of Pharmacy (MPharm) qualification, which is recognised as part of the professional registration process for becoming a licensed pharmacist.

Throughout the programme, students develop the expertise required to collaborate effectively with doctors, nurses, and dentists to interpret prescriptions and ensure the correct administration of medicines. The course also provides a deep understanding of drug development, distribution, and patient response, as well as the wider responsibilities of providing safe, ethical, and effective pharmaceutical care.

Graduates of the MPharm Pharmacy programme will be equipped to deliver patient care, address health-related challenges, and contribute to the advancement of pharmaceutical services in both clinical and research settings.

Learning is delivered through lectures, laboratory sessions, tutorials, workshops, and clinical placements in both primary care and hospital environments. Assessment methods include written examinations, multiple-choice questionnaires, oral presentations, dissertations, project reports, and practical tests.
