BEng Product Design Engineering
Course overview
The BEng (Hons) Product Design Engineering at the University of Strathclyde is a degree that combines creativity with engineering knowledge to prepare you for a career in designing products. Whether it is electronics, sports equipment, or medical devices, this programme gives you the skills to transform ideas to finished products.

The course is practical and hands-on; you will spend a lot of time working on the kinds of projects that professional designers operate. Your Learning is delivered through a mixture of lectures, design studios, and workshops.
Entry requirements
To apply, submit a personal statement that highlights your passion for product design engineering and details your academic background. A reference from a teacher or employer is required, and including a CV showcasing relevant experience.
Grade Requirements:

You will need ABB-BBB at A Level (including Maths and Physics) or AAAB at Scottish Highers (with Maths and Physics/Design & Manufacture at A). For Year 2 advanced entry, AAA at A Level (Maths A, Physics A) or A1A2A2 at Higher (Maths A1, Physics A1) is required.

International Baccalaureate applicants need 34-32 points, with HL5 in Maths and Physics.

Applicants from non-English-speaking backgrounds must achieve a minimum overall IELTS score of 6.0, with at least 5.5 in each component.

Scholarships
Asylum Seeker Scholarship
Value: Cost of tuition fees and essential study costs.
BBA International Scholarship
25% fee reduction per year (three years in total).
Faculty of Engineering International Scholarship for Undergraduate Study
Value: 15% of tuition fees for each year of study - typically £4,650 for first year.
Faculty of Science Undergraduate Scholarships for International Students
Scholarships of between £6,000 - £7,000 per year of study are available to new international students joining an eligible undergraduate degree in the Faculty of Science in the 2026/27 academic year.
