Course overview

This BEng Biomedical Engineering degree prepares you to tackle some of the biggest challenges in global healthcare. You’ll develop the skills to design software and hardware solutions to address real healthcare challenges. For example, you might explore ways to support an ageing population or improve rapid, remote diagnosis and treatment.

During your first year you’ll learn the core principles of electronics, computer science and life sciences. You’ll apply them to design and develop responsible healthcare technologies to improve diagnosis, treatment and patient care. Whether you design a wearable sensor that predicts heart failure or an AI system or algorithm that diagnoses disease quickly, you will graduate with the skills and awareness to improve healthcare through innovation.

On this 3-year biomedical engineering course you’ll have the opportunity to: design hardware and software systems that help monitor and control biological and physiological functions use simulation, design, an
