Course Overview

The MSc Information Systems at the University of Portsmouth combines business understanding with technical skills to train students as IT professionals capable of designing, developing, and managing information systems. Over the course, students will learn to build and optimise databases, create web applications, use content management systems, and design software tools.

Grade Requirements:

To be considered for the MSc Information Systems at the University of Portsmouth, applicants must meet one of the academic requirements listed below.

  • Applicants need at least a second-class (upper or lower) undergraduate degree in a relevant subject, such as Computer Science, Business, or Social Sciences. 
  • Alternatively, a less relevant degree may be acceptable if the applicant has sufficient relevant professional experience or qualifications.

English Language requirements:

  • International applicants whose first language is not English must have achieved an overall IELTS score of 6.0, with a minimum of 5.5 in each component.
  • A TOEFL iBT score of  79 overall and a minimum of 18 in reading, 17 in listening, 20 in speaking, and 17 in writing.
  • PTE Academic with a score of 62 overall and 59 in each component.

Cost of Study

The tuition fee for international students joining the MSc Information Systems at the University of Portsmouth in January 2026 is £19,200, and this fee may be reviewed annually.
