  • If you don't have this degree, you might still be considered if you have relevant work experience in the industry or other professional qualifications.

English Proficiency:

  • All applicants from non-English speaking countries need an IELTS score of 6.5 overall, with no part of the score below 5.5. However
  • If the applicant has a degree from a UK university or from a country where English is the main language, they might not need to take this test.

Cost of Study

The tuition fee for International Students taking the MSc Civil Engineering course is £19,200 per year.

Scholarships

One of the main scholarships is the Chancellor's Global Academic Merit Scholarship. This scholarship gives qualified international students who pay for their own studies £5,000 off their first year's tuition. Students can get this if they start their course in September 2025.

There's also the Vice Chancellor's Global Development Scholarship. This one gives eligible international students from certain countries £2,500 off their first year's tuition, also for those starting in September 2025.

If a student is from the EU, EEA, or Switzerland, the EU Scholarship means they will pay the same tuition fees as UK students. This is for new postgraduate courses (both taught and research) starting in September or January 2025/26.

The university offers more specific scholarships, too. The Faculty of Science and Health Global Postgraduate Taught Scholarship 2025/26 gives international students studying certain postgraduate courses in that faculty £2,000 off their first year's fees.
