Course overview
The University of Hull has developed an international reputation for research in biomedical science. The standard full-time PhD Biomedical Science Research Degree at the University of Hull comprises three years of research plus up to 12 months of thesis finalisation (also referred to as “writing up”). Their state-of-the-art research facilities feature advanced instrumentation, including automated DNA sequencers and a self-contained ancient DNA laboratory. They offer MSc by Thesis and PhD opportunities and have a network of exceptional research opportunities.
For full-time students, the thesis finalisation phase should take three months but may be extended to one year without further paperwork. The maximum thesis finalisation period is included in students’ overall programme length, which means that international PGRs will not need to apply for an additional visa to cover this phase.
In this PhD Biomedical Science Research Degree from the University of Hull, students spend a year on a research project closely advised by their research supervisor. At the end of their project, students will submit a research thesis, which will be evaluated by a research panel. The PhD is the ultimate form of student-centred learning, allowing students to focus their research interests and make an original and meaningful contribution to science.
