University of East London

Course overview

The MSc Psychology at the University of East London (UEL) is a conversion course designed for students who hold a first degree in another subject area. This Master's degree gives you full training in the main ideas and research methods of psychology.

This course is very useful if you want to become a professional psychologist, perhaps by continuing your studies for a special doctorate (like a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology). It is also the correct course if you need the Graduate Basis for Chartership (GBC) qualification to work as a psychologist in the UK. However, you can also take this course simply because you are interested in human behaviour and want to learn more about the subject.

Studying an MSc in Psychology from the University of East London teaches you both experimental and practical ways to do psychological research, including statistics, ethics, and different methods. You will learn about key areas of psychology, such as Biological Psychology, Cognitive Psychology, Developmental Psychology, and Social Psychology. The course ends with an independent research dissertation. This is your own psychology study that you design, run, and write a report on, which prepares you for further study or professional work.

You will benefit from excellent and highly experienced teaching in an internationally recognised school located close to the London 2012 Olympic Park in Stratford, an area well-served by shopping centres and transport hubs. Assessment for this course includes a wide range of procedures: coursework, written unseen exams, and a written research dissertation. Exams and coursework are moderated, while dissertations are double-marked.
