BSc Computing Science with a Foundation Year
Course overview
The University of East Anglia BSc Computing Science foundation year course is for individuals who do not have the required academic background to begin the standard three-year degree at once. You will gain a good foundation in computing, programming, and mathematics in the first year before progressing to the main BSc Computing Science degree.
After the first year is complete, you will be included in the regular degree where you undertake subjects such as Artificial Intelligence, data management and app development and learn programming languages such as Java, Python, and C++. You will learn through lectures, seminars, and extensive practical lab work that uses current industry software development tools and practices.
Students will be assessed through individual and group coursework, which may include written reports, presentations, demonstrations, and time-limited examinations. This structure is intended to equip students with practical and transferable skills, including teamwork and project management, for their subsequent studies and professional careers.
