Course overview

The LLB Law (Scots) with Energy Law at the University of Dundee provides a pathway to train as a solicitor or advocate in Scotland, with options available in the third and fourth years. The course is accredited by the Law Society of Scotland and the Faculty of Advocates.

Students can access energy law modules from the internationally recognized Centre for Energy, Petroleum and Mineral Law and Policy (CEPMLP), covering international business transactions and environmental law. In Levels 3 and 4, students deepen their expertise in energy law and undertake a dissertation in a specialist area of their choice.

Students will enjoy encouraging and supportive teaching, with a strong emphasis placed on group teaching by qualified lawyers. Teaching is done by lectures, tutorials, and independent and group study. Students will work more independently and take part in seminar discussions. In the final year, students will work on their dissertation, which is independent but supervised, on an elective topic.
