BEng Mechanical Engineering with Foundation Year
Course overview
The BEng Mechanical Engineering with Foundation Year at the University of Derby is a four-year programme designed to build essential academic skills, strengthen confidence and the professional engineering standard. This foundation year covers topics like computer-aided design, structural analysis, thermofluids, vibration, dynamics, reading technical drawings and using 3D modelling software.
Learning includes lectures by academic staff with industrial experience, and solving practical engineering challenges. Assessment during this course involves examinations, coursework, and professional presentations.
Entry requirements

Grade Requirements:

Candidates need to achieve at least 72 UCAS points from qualifications such as A-Levels at DDD, a BTEC Extended Diploma at MPP, T Levels and Access to HE Diplomas.
English Proficiency:

Candidates from non-English-speaking countries need to demonstrate their English language skills by obtaining an overall score of 6.5 in the IELTS with a minimum of 5.5 in each component.

Two awards of £1,000 are available, and will be awarded as a tuition fee reduction in the second semester. Each recipient will also be allocated up to £500 to use to attend a conference.
