MSc Legal Technology
The University of LawBristol London Moorgate Online, United Kingdom
Course overview
The MSc Legal Technology at the University of Law is a master’s degree for both law and non-law graduates who want to learn deeply about how modern tech is reshaping the legal world. The course examines tools such as artificial intelligence, blockchain, digital contracts, and others, and explores how they can transform law firms, in-house legal teams, or legal tech start-ups. Students will study a core module on Artificial Intelligence and Blockchain in Law, which blends hands-on experience with regulation, ethics, and future legal systems. They also get Research Methods training in the first term to prepare for their dissertation or long project.
The MSc Legal Technology at the University of Law is flexible. It is offered full-time or part-time, on campus (in London, Moorgate, or Bristol) or online, allowing students to learn in a way that suits their work or life. In the final part, students complete a dissertation in Legal Technology, typically around 15,000 words, in which they conduct in-depth research on a tech-law topic of their choice. Students learn by attending lectures, taking part in workshop-style sessions, working on real-life case studies, and collaborating in teams. They will practise using legal-tech tools, thinking through the ethical and regulatory issues, and building knowledge of emerging tech in law. Assessment is through a mix of timed online exams, coursework, and the dissertation.
