Swansea University

Course overview

The 4-year MSci Biochemistry degree is an advanced undergraduate degree including an integrated master’s year, with the extra year spent undertaking a research project, allowing students to develop their skills and knowledge, and also give them an in-depth knowledge of the fundamental building blocks of all life on earth. The MSci programme follows the BSc in Biochemistry course, but offers specialist training in a broad range of laboratory techniques. In the additional year, you will develop an extended research project.

In this advanced undergraduate degree, students will learn about the chemical processes that occur within living organisms and how cells work at the molecular and sub-cellular levels, and gain a deep understanding of the biochemical function of living organisms, from bacteria to plants, animals, and humans. Students will also have additional specialist training in a broad range of laboratory techniques during the third year as preparation for this work.
