MSc Computational Engineering

Swansea University

Course overview

The MSc Computational Engineering is designed for students to learn skills in computational methods and simulations in several physical phenomena, including solid mechanics, fluid dynamics, and multi-physics. Swansea University has had an international reputation in computational engineering since the 1960s, playing a role in the development of the Finite Element Method.

Students will learn strong programming skills and they will pick from two specialisations. The first area of specialisation is Numerical Techniques, which focuses on the research and development of computational methods or Data-Driven methods, using advanced maths with machine learning and big data for solving complex real-life problems. Students have free access to the necessary software and high-performance computing facilities, including Supercomputing Wales for dissertation projects. Students are taught through on-site lectures, practical sessions, seminars, workshops and lecture recordings.
