LLM Law with Criminology with a Foundation Year

Swansea University

Course overview

This four-year degree is a great choice if students do not have the typical grades required for the standard LLB Law with Criminology. The first year is a Foundation Year, delivered at The College on the Bay Campus, which will equip you with vital knowledge and study skills in areas like Critical Thinking, Legal Skills, and Contract Law.

Once the Foundation Year is completed, students spend three more years on the Singleton Campus for the LLB Law with Criminology degree. There, they learn the core legal knowledge for professional work, while also studying the main theories of crime and criminal justice. Teaching involves lectures, workshops, and seminars, plus practical experience in the Law Clinic and on work placements. Assessment is through written exams, coursework, and legal reports.

Entry requirements

Candidates are required to submit a personal statement in which they discuss their reasons for applying for the course and other relevant information regarding their studies. An academic and/or employer reference is also required. Students have the option to upload their Curriculum Vitae (CV) along with their applications to demonstrate their work experience.

Grade Requirements:

  • The offer for this course, which includes the foundation year, is set at lower A-Level grades, such as DD (equivalent to 32 UCAS Tariff points), reflecting the preparatory nature of the first year.
