LLB Law in Practice with Criminology

Swansea University

Course overview

The four-year LLB Law in Practice with Criminology programme combines the study of core law with key concepts from criminology. The third year of the degree is spent in a paid internship within a legal setting, allowing students to gain first-hand experience in legal practice. This degree provides all the necessary legal foundation for students who plan to pursue professional training, such as the Solicitors Qualifying Examinations (SQE).

Students will become good at looking closely at information (analytical skills) and will learn how to share their ideas clearly, both when speaking and when writing. The learning centres on the student and offers ways to practise, such as helping people in the Law Clinic and taking part in mooting (pretending to be in a courtroom). The way students are marked is different for each module, which helps them learn the new professional skills needed for their law career.

Entry requirements

Candidates are required to submit a personal statement that clearly discusses their reasons for choosing the course and other relevant information regarding their previous academic history. An academic and/or employer reference is also needed to support the application. Students have the option to upload their Curriculum Vitae (CV) along with their application to demonstrate any relevant work experience or professional history.
