BSc Sociology and Psychology

Swansea University

Course overview

The BSc Sociology and Psychology (Joint Honours) at Swansea University studies how the mind works and how people behave in society. It combines psychology, which looks at the brain and behaviour, with sociology, which looks at how social, cultural, and economic factors affect people’s lives. The degree is approved by the British Psychological Society (BPS). Students who graduate with at least a 2:2 can get Graduate Membership, which is the first step to becoming a Chartered Psychologist.

You will be taught through a blend of lectures, seminars, workshops, and practical sessions, including skills-training, lab or research-classes, and online resources such as recorded lectures, quizzes, and discussion forums. Assessment is mixed; you will complete essays, reports, oral presentations, statistical analyses, interviews (qualitative work), and exams, and in later years, you will carry out a research project that brings together your quantitative and qualitative research skills.
