MRes Medical Imaging
Course overview
The Medical Imaging Master of Research (MRes) focuses on the science and research that form the foundation of modern medical and non-medical imaging techniques. Working with imaging physicists and using industry-standard equipment like MRI scanners, you will gain specialist knowledge on how techniques such as Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (MRI), computed tomography (CT), and diagnostic sonography (US) are essential for diagnosing, monitoring, and treating disease. This course is highly suitable for professionals seeking to advance their knowledge or for those aiming for further study, such as a PhD.
The programme's structure involves taught modules in the initial terms, followed by an extended, full-time research project, giving you 15 weeks to concentrate on an area of interest within imaging specialism. Students' progress will be assessed through written examinations, coursework, practical laboratory-based assessments, presentations, and a final dissertation for their research project. Please note that this MRes is research-intensive and is not a clinical or vocational course that provides professional training in radiography.
