BSc Herbal Medicinal Science Top-Up

Course Overview

The BSc (Hons) Herbal Medicinal Science (Top-Up) is a partnership between London Metropolitan University and the Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine (SUTCM). It allows students who have completed the SUTCM programme to earn a double award by completing a fourth year at London Met. The course takes a holistic approach to wellness, concentrating on the development of traditional medicines with the help of modern technology.

Students will study how plant-derived drugs are created through chemistry and pharmacology, while also examining related scientific areas such as cell biology, medicinal chemistry, and toxicology. Assessment is based on a combination of coursework and examinations. In the final year, students must complete a detailed investigative project. Upon graduation, students are eligible to apply for Associate Membership of the Royal Society of Chemistry (AMRSC).

Entry Requirements for Indian Students

Grade Requirements:

  • Candidates must have completed the Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine (SUTCM) programme with extra modules from London Met.

English Proficiency:

  • Candidates should submit an overall score of 6.0 in the IELTS test, with a minimum of 5.5 in each section.
  • PTE Academic and TOEFL IBT are also accepted.

Cost of Study

The international students’ tuition fee for the BSc Herbal Medicinal Science (Top-Up) programme at London Metropolitan University is £19,500. Not that this is subject to change yearly.
