BSc Quantity Surveying

Course Overview

The BSc Quantity Surveying programme at Glasgow Caledonian University teaches students how to manage the money and legal matters involved in building and construction projects. This degree is officially recognised by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) and the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB), which helps graduates progress towards becoming chartered professionals in the field.

Students on this programme get hands-on experience through field trips, a 24-week work placement, and projects that involve different areas of study. In their third year, students team up with those studying architecture and engineering. Together, they work to develop solutions for construction challenges. This collaboration improves their teamwork skills and prepares them for working in the construction industry.

The programme uses teaching methods, including lectures, practical workshops, visits to construction sites, and online learning tools. For assessment, students will undertake exams, write essays and reports, participate in group assignments, and complete a major cost-planning project.
