MSc Sport, Physical Activity and Mental Health

Course Overview

Edge Hill University’s MSc Sport, Physical Activity and Mental Health is a one-year master’s programme designed for students who want to pursue careers in contact and non-contact sports. The course provides a platform for students, in partnership with Everton, to understand the psychology of movement and the human mind.

In this course, students will learn how mindful practices like yoga aid meditation, football promotes unity, tennis ensures precision, boxing builds resilience, and jogging clears the mind. As well as recent graduates, the course is ideal for practitioners, professionals, and policy makers. They will also apply everything they’ve learned to a research dissertation on a topic of interest and embrace collaboration, which makes sport fun while keeping their mental health in check.

Learning is through lectures, seminars, excursions, and guest speeches. Assessment methods include presentations, essays, policy briefings, assignments, periodic tests, and projects. There are no final exams in this course.
