About University

De Montfort University (DMU) is a public university in Leicester, a city in central England. It was founded in 1870 and has a long history of updating its courses to meet the needs of the job market. For example, DMU started offering computer courses in the 1960s, and these courses are still popular and respected today.

Entry Requirements for Indian Students

  • International students must also have a valid ATAS certificate to study at DMU to enrol on the course.
  • Applicants with no formal academic qualifications but with extensive industry experience shall be considered. 

Grade Requirements:

  • To qualify to study this course, you must possess at least a second-class lower division (2:2) in a relevant subject such as Aeronautical/Aerospace Engineering, or a closely related discipline such as Mechanical Engineering or Automotive Engineering.

English Proficiency: 

  • For students whose first language is not English, an IELTS overall score of 6.0 with at least 5.5 in each component is required to show proof of proficiency in English.  

Cost of Study

The full-time tuition fee to study an MSc in Aeronautical Engineering at De Montfort University for the 2025/26 academic year is £18,100.

Scholarships

De Montfort University (DMU) gives different types of scholarships to help international students who want to study for an undergraduate or postgraduate degree. These scholarships are meant to reward students who do well in school and to help with the cost of studying in the UK.

One example is the Global Access Scholarship. This is for international students who will start a full-time undergraduate or postgraduate taught course at DMU in the 2025/26 academic year. Postgraduate students can receive between £2,000 and £3,000, depending on which faculty they study in.

There is also the Postgraduate Alumni Scholarship. If you have already studied at DMU and are coming back to do a postgraduate taught course, you can get a 20% discount on your tuition fees. This scholarship encourages former DMU students to continue their education at the same university.
