BSc Software Engineering

Course Overview

The BSc Software Engineering at De Montfort University focuses on developing reliable and secure software systems. Students learn programming, software design, databases, algorithms, and system development, with the option to understand how mobile apps, web development, and cloud computing work.

The course follows a block teaching model, where students review one subject at a time for clarity and deeper learning. It includes lectures, hands-on labs, group work, and projects. Industry professionals would also be invited to answer students’ questions, which could be a possible avenue to network and secure internships at well-established tech companies.

During this course, students will be assessed through coursework, projects, presentations, and examinations. In the final year, they will complete an individual project that showcases their skills and can form part of their professional portfolio.
