BSc Public Health

The BSc (Hons) Public Health at Coventry University is an undergraduate degree that prepares graduates for roles in healthcare. Students gain the skills necessary to care for people, especially those with disabilities and impairments. This course is for students who enjoy working with people, including infants and the aged.

In this programme, students do research and practicals to equip them with the knowledge to diagnose and prescribe drugs for patients’ safe recovery from illness and other diseases. Part of this course requires students to work outdoors, where they provide health consultations through immunisation for infants and check-ups for adults.

Additionally, graduates receive mentorship in areas like epidemiology, health promotion, biostatistics, and health policy to work in public, private, and non-profit sectors. These modules help graduates to provide solutions to health challenges, especially in the aspects of disease control, sanitation, and maternal health.

Learning in this course is through lectures, seminars, and one-on-one discussions with public health experts, brainstorming sessions, laboratory exercises, and field visits to health organisations. Assessment methods include lab reports, tests, assignments, examinations, and a final-year project.

As part of the requirements for this programme, applicants must provide satisfactory health clearance; a criminal record disclosure is also required.

Grade Requirements

• Applicants require 112 UCAS points.
• Those with a secondary school education similar to UK A-levels, with a solid academic transcript, can also apply.
• Candidates with an Access to HE Diploma (30 credits), Pearson BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma, and International Baccalaureate Diploma of 29 points might also be considered.
• Other qualifications include the Scottish Highers.

English Proficiency

• International students, to qualify for this course, require an overall IELTS score of 6.0.
• No score below 5.5 in each component.
